This because the series gives off an incredible vibe of feel good and slice of life akin to such series as Beck. Already from the get go I am really excited to see where this series goes. I liked the choice of Opening they used. Giving of a sort of Irish J-rock vibe, and it added to the validity of the international Football premise. The voice acting on the old European man in the beginning was also really well done, and while I didn't notice any problems with the rest of the cast it will take some more time before I can make a solid statement on them. Not to say this series is all great; The animation is really well done during any sort of action or movement, but the facial designs bother me the noses are too sharp and triangular. Plus the plot is interesting so far but at only one episode in it is tough to say if it will pick up and continue to be as energetic and vibrant as it is now.

First Impressions: The animation is a little off around the noses, but if the plot can keep its pace properly I think this will be one great series this season.

Durarara! 13

Well just finished watching Durarara! 13, and to put it into words simply WOW. The series is amazing in numerous ways with its deep and intricate characters, their relations to one another, the absence of an overhanging antagonist, and even just how each character fits perfectly into the ballad of the show. Ep 13 marks a new OP and ED, as well as many new characters and a new direction. I was as always blown away by the crisp and gorgeous animation being done here, and the choice of bgm is a near perfect accent to the mood the director was trying to give off.

Though I realize I haven't blogged any of the series thus far it's one that I will be following from now on. For those that haven't checked it out I can strongly suggest watching at least up to EP 12 of Durarara!!

image taken from http://durarara.blogspot.com/2009/12/blog-post.html

Heroman EP 1

So the first episode of Heroman has aired. For those that don’t know Heroman is the anime child of Stan Lee (of Marvel fame.) and Studio Bones (Full Metal Alchemist, and Darker Than Black to name a few). This was a series that has gone from being something that was lowest on my watch list for this season; to somewhere solidly up near the top. Most of my hesitance came from Stan Lee, and the idea that a western comic creator could make an interesting anime. Upon seeing the stellar animation from one of the PV’s it had caught my attention and I decided with some reluctance to give it s shot. I am glad to say that from the opening to the ending Heroman has blew my expectations, which were fairly low, out of the water.

The first episode may not have been as action packed as I would’ve expected, but as an introductory episode it served a lot of purpose and had my attention the whole way through. Animation, something I like to bring up when talking about Bones, was gorgeous the whole way through. Music was all appropriate for the moods. I surprisingly liked the personality of the protagonist Joey and his friend Psy (I am watching this subbed so my apologies if his name is spelt different.). They came off as reasonably level headed and not scarred by angst like many wimpy male leads. I am not sure yet if it is good or bad that I noticed a lot of similarities between Joey and Peter Parker. His Professor role model, living with his Grandmother, or even just his character traits all ring of the familiar tone of Spiderman. At the least for now I really enjoy this series and look forward to the next episode.
